Iran is known as the ‘nose job capital of the world’, with more per capita procedures than any other country (seven times more than the United States). With well-educated specialists performing different kinds of nose surgeries — cosmetic and medical — Iran enjoys one of the richest manpower resources for nose surgery in the world.
A rhinoplasty or nose surgery (also known as ‘nose job’) is a plastic surgery aimed at correcting, reshaping, or reconstructing the nose. The rhinoplasty procedure is typically performed to address the aesthetic aspects of the nose. It involves a surgical procedure to modify the structure of the nose, usually by making changes to the nasal bone or cartilage.
Not all rhinoplasty procedures, however, are for cosmetic reasons. Sometimes nose surgery is performed to restore the function of a nose with medical problems, e.g. difficulty in breathing because of a deviated septum. The surgical procedure for correction of a deviated septum is technically called septoplasty.
As said above, nose surgery can be used to correct the functional problems of a nose such as a crooked septum caused by a traumatic injury, which often results in nasal obstruction.
The majority of rhinoplasty cases, however, don’t have medical problems. They decide to have a cosmetic nose job because they are unhappy with the shape of their nose. Nose job, from an aesthetic standpoint, aims to correct the following problems:
One cannot walk down a street in Tehran and not come across the signature of a nose job: bandages fixed on the nasal bridge. The craze for having a small, straight nose has been on the rise since a few decades ago among both women and men in Iran.
Now Iran has the highest rate of nose surgery in the world, with more procedures per capita than any other country. With people flocking to the country to get their noses done by Iranian doctors, Iran has become a rhinoplasty hub in the world.
Not only in the capital Tehran, but also in many other cities across the country, cosmetic nose operations are performed by nose surgeons who have academic as well as practical expertise in the field. Hospitals and specialized clinics in cities like Mashhad, Shiraz, Isfahan, Tabriz, Kish Island, and other major cities offer quality nose surgeries to national and international patients.
Nose reshaping surgery also attracts the lion’s share of health tourists entering Iran for treatment. A considerable number of foreign nose job candidates from various countries, especially Middle Eastern countries, flock to Iran annually to go under the knives of skillful Iranian nose surgeons. (See rhinoplasty patients’ testimonial videos.)
Some famous foreign celebrities have come to Iran for rhinoplasty over the last years, including the Swedish-American model, Pixee Fox, known as ‘Human Barbie Doll’ and Brazilian-born British TV personality, Rodrigo Alves, known as ‘Human Ken Doll’.
Healthcare services are not very costly in Iran. Given the economic factors, plastic surgery is very affordable in Iran. As for rhinoplasty, an average procedure performed in Iran would cost you up to 80% less than in the United States (including all expenses), 60% less than in Australia, 50% less than in Germany, and 30% less than in India.
TehranMedBeauty offers affordable nose job packages in three different types to fit all budgets. The price of nose surgery packages is determined by the experience and proficiency of the doctor, type of hotel, and other services you wish to receive.
Iranian nose surgeons are among the most knowledgeable, experienced, and prolific in the world. Having graduated from top universities in Iran and the US, and completed advanced courses and fellowships in specialized fields such as rhinology and maxillofacial surgery mostly in the United States and European countries, the best nose surgeons in Iran are in fact the best in the world.
The tried-and-tested expertise of Iranian rhinoplasty surgeons is the outcome of their many years of hard work and experience. An average nose surgeon in Tehran, for example, performs 100 surgeries a month. Some of the most popular rhinoplasty surgeons in Iran do as many as 5 operations in a single day.
It is noteworthy that Iranian rhinoplasty doctors deal with various cases with very diverse noses. This makes for their even greater proficiency in operating on noses with different shapes and deformities.
Some of them, however, are best known for a specific type of nose, e.g. fleshy noses or bony noses, or specific types of nose jobs, e.g. fantasy nose surgery. They also have cases with different ages; people as young as 17 to as old as 50 plus, the latter usually involving medical rhinoplasty cases.
One big advantage of Iranian rhinoplasty surgeons is that they put great importance on the pre-op doctor-patient conversation. They devote a lot of time listening to patients in a friendly atmosphere to clearly understand what they want.
Of course, most rhinoplasty surgeons possess a good understanding of aesthetics, which means they give consultation to patients as to the best way the nose could be reshaped so that to meet the aesthetic standards and be in harmony with other facial features.
In short, as rhinoplasty is an amalgam of science and art, Iranian rhinoplasty surgeons make use of their extensive knowledge, experience, and strong aesthetic sense to make your dream come true.
TehranMedBeauty ’s rhinoplasty doctors will perform for you a nose job in the style of your choice, but they will also give you hints about the best nose style that fits your face so to meet the aesthetic standards and be in harmony with other facial features.
Choose a good rhinoplasty surgeon and arrange your travel and surgery. That’s all you need to do. Make sure that the doctor is board certified with enough experience in nasal surgery. See before and after rhinoplasty photos of the doctor’s previous cases to find out more about his/her practical skill and proficiency.
Sometimes you need to do more research before making up your mind to have surgery with a particular surgeon. This is where our consultants step in. They assist you to choose a rhinoplasty surgeon in Iran who has a great experience of doing nose surgeries for cases with similar noses as yours.
Additionally, you will meet your surgeon in person once you come to Iran and will discuss your expectations with them. Another consultation session will be available immediately before surgery when the patient and the doctor once again review the expectations and the result.
As someone who wants to travel to a foreign country for surgery, with no idea how your trip would be like and what is awaiting you ahead, you have to make sure that your trip is as well-organized as possible.
To save yourself the hassles of getting a visa, booking flight and hotel, communicating with your doctor in a foreign language, and so on, it is highly recommended that you have a medical tourism facilitator organize all this for you.
Once you contact TehranMedBeauty for information regarding a rhinoplasty in Iran, one of our coordinators will guide you through all the process. TehranMedBeauty will do much of the work for you, including getting a visa for Iran.
As soon as you arrive in Iran, you will be received by our assistants and the rest of the process is continued according to a pre-planned schedule. The video below shows how we provide services to a foreign patient. (Read more about health tourism process in Iran).
There are two main types of noses as far as rhinoplasty is concerned: bony nose and fleshy nose (meaty nose). The defining factor in differentiating between bony noses and fleshy noses is the thickness of the skin. Bony noses have thin skin or medium-thickness skin, but meaty noses have thick skin.
Because of the thinness of the skin in bony noses, the details of their structures are clearly recognizable. These noses generally have stronger cartilage, which leads to the nasal tip to be firmer with less likelihood of droopiness.
On the other hand, fleshy noses do not reveal the details of their bony structure and cartilage because of their thick skin. Furthermore, these noses have weaker and thinner cartilage tissues.
Sometimes, however, the above general rule does not apply, i.e. a bony nose might have think skin and a fleshy nose might have a thin skin with strong cartilages.
Different techniques are used to do a rhinoplasty for fleshy noses and bony noses. A challenge in meaty nose surgery is the reshaping of the tip of the nose. In fleshy nose surgery, a good result is achievable by refining the sides of the nose and reshaping the nose tip.
However, because of the possibility of deformation of the lower part of fleshy noses after rhinoplasty, which is a result of their weak cartilages and heavy skin, new techniques are used to make a support for the nasal tip and prevent it from dropping.
In bony noses, small changes to the structure will bring remarkable results. Unlike meaty noses, bony noses do not have much fat under the skin. Swelling after surgery will be less severe in bony noses than fleshy noses.
For cases with a bony nose, the surgeon must perform the operation with utmost delicacy so that there would be no asymmetry in the final result. Choosing an experienced and skillful surgeon will be the most important step in achieving the desired result from a boney nose surgery or a meaty nose surgery.
It is very common to hear Iranian rhinoplasty surgeons and patients referring to different nose job styles as ‘fantasy‘ (or ‘dolly‘), ‘semi-fantasy‘, or ‘natural‘.
In the ‘natural’ rhinoplasty style, smaller changes are applied to the nose, with the result being a nose with a straight nasal bridge rather than a curved one. Also, the angle between the nasal tip and the upper lip is not too wide in a ‘natural’ nose job style.
Bony noses with dorsal humps are good candidates for ‘natural’ style.
Fleshy noses usually receive ‘natural’ style rhinoplasty.
To put it simply, a ‘dolly‘ nose (fantasy nose) is a very small and upturned nose (informally known as ‘ski jump’ nose or ‘snub’ nose). In a ‘dolly nose’ surgery in Iran, the nose is made small and upturned (so-called ‘retroussé nose’). It produces a favorable result mostly in bony noses and is suitable for and most attractive in small faces.
A ‘semi-fantasy’ nose job style is something between the ‘natural’ style and the ‘fantasy’ style. The curve of the bridge is slighter and the angle between the nose and the lips is narrower than a fantasy nose.
Fantasy and semi-fantasy noses are more popular among women than men, who typically opt for natural style. The desired result in these two styles greatly depends on the skill and experience of the surgeon, as well as the type of nose.
Pre-op anxiety is an inseparable part of every surgery. However, one thing is for sure: The more informed you are about the procedure, the less stressed and more prepared you will be before your surgery.
If you are coming from abroad to Iran for a nose procedure, you have even more concerns. “I do not speak Farsi,” “I’m not familiar with this country,” “What if I come across a problem,” you might wonder.
All these worries will be taken away when you have the support of TehranMedBeauty. With all your affairs handled by the company, the only thing you need to do is stay positive and be prepared for the operation. Read these crucial tips for rhinoplasty preparation.
Nose surgery is typically performed under general anesthesia. During the surgery, you are unconscious and do not feel any pain. After the surgery, a nasal splint is placed on your nose to help nasal structure remain stable during the healing process.
Rhinoplasty is an outpatient procedure, which means you will leave the hospital on the same day with no overnight stay. Five to seven days after surgery, you need to visit your surgeon to get your nasal splint removed and the bandage replaces. During this period, you have to follow a number of instructions for better healing. Read “do’s and don’ts for rhinoplasty recovery”.
Revision rhinoplasty, also called secondary rhinoplasty, is a second, third, etc. nose surgery aimed at correcting the result of a previous unsuccessful operation or making improvements to the nose after a not-so-bad nose job.
Collaborating with some of the best rhinoplasty doctors in Iran (all with at least 12 years of experience), TehranMedBeauty offers guaranteed rhinoplasty, which means patients whose nose reshaping surgery result is not satisfactory due to medical malpractice on the part of the doctor, or his team, will be provided with a revision surgery, as well as all travel services, all free of charge.
Having a revision rhinoplasty not long after the first surgery would turn a minor problem into a disaster. Therefore, deciding to undergo revision rhinoplasty should not be impulsive.
You should wait at least 10-12 months after your previous rhinoplasty before considering a revision rhinoplasty when your nose has taken its final shape. It takes at least one year for the swelling to completely subside.
Revision rhinoplasty takes longer than a primary rhinoplasty. The procedure sometimes takes up to four hours.
